THE NEW EAST

EXPECT to see more of Louise Gray's delicious trompe l'oeil embellished dresses on the London Fashion Week catwalks next month, as well as a new wave of typically eclectic ensembles from mysterious sustainable fashion advocate Noki; the duo have secured their second shows with Fashion East, Lulu Kennedy's young talent showcase. They will be joined by newcomer David David, a fine art graduate whose fashion credentials are already stellar: collaboration with Fred Perry as part of its Blank Canvas project - check; hand-painted T-shirts, hoodies, caps and mini dresses selling at London's Dover Street Market - check; fans of the calibre of Daisy Lowe, Agyness Deyn and Sam Morton - check, check and check. He jumps into the spot vacated by House of Holland, which - in the great tradition of Fashion East alumni such as Richard Nicoll, Marios Schwab, Jonathan Saunders, Gareth Pugh, Roksanda Ilincic, Jens Laugesen and Emma Cook - has been awarded its first on-schedule solo show for autumn/winter 2008-9. Now in its 16th season, Fashion East will again be supported by TopShop and show at The Old Truman Brewery – promising, as ever, to be a must-see on every fashionista's schedule.
